Phonto by youthhr just received an update. This ‘add text to your photo’ app has been out nearly a year but lucky for you, I just stumbled across it.
It’s extremely simple (for me, simple is loads of fonts, great choice of colors and placement options) but packed with lots of goodies. Adding text is quick and there are plenty of sharing options.
Phonto is limited to 1:1 aspect ratio. Otherwise, this app is perfect for adding text. No stickers. No speech balloons (wait, a flying bubble!). Just tap on the photo and choose your text options (I recommend typing your text first so you can see the changes – such as color and font…my oh my all the lovely fonts!)
I added a little tilt to my text then went back to the picture to move the text. This was a little awkward since when you reposition the text, it temporarily displays as horizontal, but it returns to your chosen tilt setting when you let go (may take an extra tweak to get it just right).
So, a speedy solution to add text to photos. Sleek and no frills….but wait. I accidentally popped a balloon. That is, I found speech balloons. They are well hidden so you won’t be bothered by them. But in case you bubble, click settings and choose Add Item. There are 11 to pick from and you can add text and adjust opacity.
There are many apps that allow you to add text to photos, some that incorporate a ton of other options as well (photo editing, text outline, patterns). But sometimes you just have a minute and distractions or processing lag can be the difference between sharing that hilarious or poignant caption with a friend and forgetting about it. For those times, just do it pronto with Phonto (currently Free, in-app purchase to remove ads is $0.99).
