I love starting the New Year being organized, and this year I’m on the right track thanks to Memory Jar. I can’t think of a better way to organize my family photos on my iPhone! Memory Jar app is just the tool I needed to get me going! I have over 5,000 images on my iPhone and I desperately want/need to get the ones of my kids in some sort of order. Those special moments (ie: loose tooth) are getting lost in the midst of thousands of other images. To say I’m excited about this app is an understatement. I’m thrilled and looking forward to categorizing everyone by name and jotting down bits of information to go along with the photo. It’s like scrapbooking on your iPhone!
The Memory Jar app, by The Lens Lab Pty Ltd, is a family photo journal app that parents will love using as they archive those cherished photo memories. Why would you want Memory Jar App? Simply because we are all using our mobile phones to snap photos of our kids. Those fun outings to the zoo, play dates with friends, and silly moments here and there are all captured on our camera phones. We snap away and then what? We forget the nitty gritty details of the photo. The memory starts to fade. Keep the memory at the forefront by jotting quick notes and captions with Memory Jar app.

I had the pleasure of connecting with Stuart Watson, the founder of The Lens Lab, over email conversations. He mentioned, “…there is a bug that has been affecting some people when connecting to Evernote. It can result in a crash when saving a memory while connected to Evernote. It is normally resolved by logging out and logging back in to Evernote. We already have a bug fix version submitted to Apple so we’re well on top of it. You may not even experience it as it is hasn’t affected everyone.” I must say that I love app developers who are on top of things. As a father of 3 young children, he has a passion for Memory Jar that you will feel when you utilize the app.
Getting started with Memory Jar is incredible easy. I love that there is no sign up. The user functions and keys are simple and self explanatory. I was able to quickly create a profile for each family member.
Right away, I created a profile for myself, my husband and my 2 boys. Here’s a screenshot of my profile while I was setting up my information. When you add in your birth date, the app is smart enough to calculate your age for the events that you enter.
Not so important for myself, but a very nice feature for the kids. It’s great to look a a photo, use the flip feature to view the notes on the back, and see how old they are on that specific occasion.
Memories for each person can be added easily. I’ve been going through my camera roll and adding photos from events or special moments.
Simply select the family member that you want to add a memory for and fill in the blanks! Add a photo from your camera roll or take a photo through the Memory Jar app. If you import a photo from your camera roll, the date the photo was taken will appear. You can add a title and any notes in the memory section. This will be logged on the back of the photo for future reference.
As you fill your Memory Jar, you will see them listed as shown in the screenshot above. These are just a few of the memories I’ve logged for my oldest son.
So what are you waiting for? Start filling up your Memory Jar now!
