I’m having a love affair…..and it’s with an app. Rarely have I been blow away by an app, especially a free app (limited time). Hello Glaze. I love you. There, I said it. And I want to shout it from the mountain tops for all iPhoneographers to hear. “Go to the App Store and download Glaze!”. Why? Because it is simply amazing. It really does transform your photograph into a painting. I seriously can not get enough of this app. I could play with it all day long; gobbling up each and every painterly image it produces.
Above is a trailer for Glaze, by The 11ers. Notice that it shows Studio mode and a bit of the advanced Workshop mode where you can create your own unique styles by blending the Studio styles and randomly generated styles.
I spoke with Gilles Dezeustre of The 11ers, and he mentioned their recent popularity burst on the app store. “We seem to have gathered quiet a few following, as 24k people have already downloaded the latest update, in less than 2 days!”
I’ve found several beautiful images that I will share with you so you can see some examples. I enjoy viewing Glaze edits on a larger screen, such as an iPad, over an iPhone. This is becuase you can see the amazing details and painterly effects much better. The texture is so realistic, you almost want to reach out and touch the layers of paint.

Hats off to Glaze for giving iPhoneographers the opportunity to achieve a beautiful painterly effect, while keep our fingers clean!
