Formerly known as ColorSplashStudio, this selective coloring app just received an update and a name change. Now known as ColorStrokes by MacPhun, it is on sale for $.99 for the next 48 hours. After that, the price jumps up to $1.99 on the app store. If you already have the ColorSplashStudio version, you can update it for free. What’s in the new update? Lots of color, of course! The app update boasts, “…all the colors of the world to let your creativity truly blossom.”
For a tutorial and review on the ColorSplashStudio version, read our previous post. The basics of the app are the same, so if you are brand spanking new to ColorStrokes, you will want to read this first.
New Features
- ReColor Tool: Pick a color tone and apply it to your photos as shown below.

The update gives you the ability to add color to old B&W photos as well.

Pick your shade, any shade….

Didn’t like that shade? Try another. Or add multiple colors to one photo. You no longer have to rely on adjusting the hue to change your color.
