Sometimes you stumble across an app, and then wonder, how did I ever live without this in my editing toolbox? Bokeh Lens is one of those apps that I love to use. It’s simple and effective. Developed by Studio TIMO, Bokeh Lens allows you to mask an area of your image so that you can create a beautifully blurred background with lovely bokeh effects.
Features:
- Upload photo from camera library or take a new photo
- Edit image by using masking with your finger
- Pinch and zoom to enlarge and area as you are masking
- Adjust masking feather size/tool
- Toggle between the brush tool and eraser to adjust any errors while editing
- Adjust the level of focus/blur to achieve desired bokeh level
- Magnifying glass allows the user to zoom and edit without blocking view
- Compare with original
The following screenshots provided by Bokeh Lens demonstrate just how easy this app is to use. The first image below, depicts the icon options.

After loading your image or taking a new photo, you will select edit focus on the bottom left. This will allow you to mask the area that you want to remain in focus. Easily switch between the masking brush and eraser to adjust any masking errors. Pinch and zoom your photo to enlarge areas for finer masking detail when needed.

Tap on adjust and two slider bar options will allow you to adjust the bokeh level and mask feather level. Use the ‘Mask Feather’ slider for smoothing out an edge of a selection. The ‘Bokeh Level’ button (which was recently relabeled to ‘Adjust’ in the latest update) will be found in the second slider bar.

I’m impressed with this app, and their recent update. Little tweaks keep making it better and better. Two thumbs up!
