Getting the most out of your mobile photography can be easier said than done, but with few simple tricks, you can go from novice to pro in no-time.
Sure there are tons of filters, effects, and border that can give your picture a little added flair, but the real trick to beautiful mobile photography is to make the final result look natural.
One of the biggest benefits of having a good mobile phone camera is that it can be very liberating by allowing you to snap your perspective of the world, edit, and share it instantly.
The Basics
Good Lighting – Despite how great mobile devices have become at taking great photos, one issue remains, great lighting. To take beautiful shots, you’re going to need good lighting. That doesn’t mean you need to shoot pictures in overly lit areas, but the right lighting on your subject will make a world of difference.
Don’t Zoom – Remember this golden rule: The mobile device’s zoom can be your worst enemy. Zooming in can make your photos look gittery or pixelated. Avoid this by getting physically closer to your subject.

Be Ready – Sounds trivial enough, right? But that perfect shot can happen at any time, anywhere. That’s the true beauty of shooting with mobile devices; they’re almost always a hand’s reach away. Don’t miss that perfect opportunity to snap a moment that might go by in an instant.
Lock and Shoot – It’s much easier to take a perfectly balanced shot without your exposure constantly shifting. Adjust this by focusing on the right color balance and locking it in place. Different light sources achieve various atmospheres; therefore you may want to experiment with each shot you take.
Meet other Photographers – We’re literally living in a time where finding other enthusiasts of any subject is a click away. Get to meet other mobile photographers by searching on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and so on. Their work will surely inspire you to improve yours, and give you a few fresh shot ideas. This leads us to…
Share Your Stuff: Took some great shots you’re proud of? Don’t just let them sit there on your device. Share them! Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Flickr, the choices are endless! If you already have a few social presences set up for your pictures, we’d love to know about them. Share them in the comments below.
Apps, Apps, Apps – There are new photography and editing apps released on a daily basis. We cover most of them, so keep reading PhotoCruncher for daily insight. If you like what you see, download them and see if they deliver the results you’re looking for.
